Of our 8-day trips, this is <strong>The Mile-Maker<\/strong>. This route is designed for those who <em>really<\/em> want to sail and get the absolute most out of the week.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re going <strong>off the beaten track<\/strong> and setting course for islands like the rugged Levitha and the &#8216;butterfly island&#8217; of Astypalaia. This means <strong>longer, challenging sailing days<\/strong> and less time in the harbors.<\/p>\n<p>Sailing experience itself is absolutely not required \u2013 the skipper and crew are happy to teach you the ropes! What is important is that you understand our &#8216;camping on the water&#8217; vibe. We recommend this trip if you love a healthy dose of adventure and a week packed with action.<\/p>\n<p>Your reward? Remote bays, epic BBQs, and the liveliest harbors. This is the perfect mix of <strong>challenge<\/strong> and <strong>reward<\/strong> in one week.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example of the West Route:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1IkPRACOH9wDi7c6Hlvv4ie2Qwdt__3nh\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 1 (Saturday): Kick-off on Kos!<\/strong> Welcome aboard! From 6:00 PM, you can check into your floating home for the week. You&#8217;ll meet the rest of the crew, we&#8217;ll sort out the cabins, and kick off the trip with drinks. No nautical miles today; we&#8217;re diving into Kos town with the group for our first Greek dinner and exploring the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 2 (Sunday): Early Rise, Cast Off!<\/strong> We leave early and set course for the (climbing) island of Kalymnos. We&#8217;ll anchor in the idyllic bay of Palionnisos, where in the evening, we&#8217;ll be picked up by the taverna owner for an authentic Greek family dinner with a <em>killer view<\/em> over the bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 3 (Monday): Off-the-Grid on Levitha (BBQ Night!)<\/strong> 25 miles on the log today. Destination: Levitha. This island is <em>next level<\/em> rugged and is practically only inhabited by the lighthouse keeper. We drop the anchor, dive into the water, and in the evening&#8230; time for an epic BBQ on board under the stars. This is &#8216;camping on the water&#8217; 2.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 4 (Tuesday): Off to &#8216;The Butterfly&#8217; Astypalaia<\/strong> Another serious sailing day (28 NM) brings us to the &#8216;butterfly island&#8217; of Astypalaia. We&#8217;ll spend the night in the quiet bay of Analipsi. Anchor down, swim, relax, and enjoy the total tranquility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 5 (Wednesday): Short Hop, Big Effect: Astypalaia Town<\/strong> After a short sail, we move to the main village of Astypalaia. This is Greece at its best. We moor on the quay and roll straight onto the boulevard, looking for an <em>ice-cold<\/em> beer. Tonight, we&#8217;ll eat literally on the beach, with our feet in the sand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 6 (Thursday): The Great Return: 40 Miles to Pothia!<\/strong> Brace yourself for the longest sailing day of the week: 40 NM! We leave the tranquility behind and sail (hopefully downwind) back to Kalymnos. We moor in Pothia, the lively capital. After the silence of the past few days, we&#8217;re back in the &#8216;civilized world&#8217;. Time to explore that bustling boulevard full of restaurants and bars!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 7 (Friday): Final Leg &amp; Kos by Night<\/strong> We sail the last stretch back to our home port. But not without one last, epic swim stop in the picturesque bay of Pserimos. Around 5:00 PM, we moor up in Kos Marina. In the evening, we go out with a bang: one last Greek dinner with the whole crew, and then (optionally) dive into the bustling nightlife of Kos!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 8 (Saturday): Until next time!<\/strong> It&#8217;s a wrap. Time to check out. With (most likely) a healthy tan and a backpack full of new memories and friends. (Staying for another week? Then this is your chill day to explore Kos!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Crew:<\/strong> Minimum 5, maximum 8 adventurers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please note: This is real sailing!<\/strong> The route is a plan, but the wind and weather have the final say.
