The South Route is your perfect mix of <strong>active sailing<\/strong> and <strong>ultimate relaxation<\/strong>. This route has it all: from relaxed days with the wind at your back to serious sailing days where we tack against the wind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an expedition, which means: serious sailing days, the chance of rougher weather, and magical nights at anchor in <em>middle-of-nowhere<\/em> bays, where we&#8217;ll take the dinghy to shore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sailing experience itself is absolutely not required \u2013 the skipper and crew are happy to teach you the ropes! What is important is that you understand our &#8216;camping on the water&#8217; vibe. We recommend this trip if you love a healthy dose of adventure and understand that life on board is a bit more basic and cozier than in a hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is this your trip? Then this is what awaits you: from the Turkish coast to the UNESCO splendor of Rhodes and the raw nature of the Nisyros volcano!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is an example of our South Route:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1Aef0o7jYRNyyzaauZkkBuX9oT9SIRZI&#038;ehbc=2E312F\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 1 (Thursday): Kick-off on Kos!<\/strong> Welcome aboard! From 6:00 PM, you can check into your floating home for the next 12 days. We kick off the trip with drinks, you&#8217;ll meet the rest of the crew, and we&#8217;ll go over the <em>need-to-knows<\/em>. Once everyone has arrived, we&#8217;ll all dive into a cozy Greek taverna. The perfect start!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 2 (Friday): First stop: Turkey!<\/strong> Cast off! We leave Kos early and set course for the Turkish coast, around the Dat\u00e7a Peninsula. We sail past the westernmost point of Turkey (Cape Knidos) and drop anchor for a lunch stop. In the evening, we moor in the super-picturesque bay of Hay\u0131tb\u00fck\u00fc Koyu for dinner at a relaxed Turkish restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 3 (Saturday): Iconic Symi (and the nightlife!)<\/strong> After breakfast, we hoist the sails for Greece. Destination: Symi, possibly the most beautiful harbor in the Mediterranean. Prepare yourself for those iconic, colorful neoclassical houses. The city is a World Heritage site and breathes Venetian atmosphere. We&#8217;ll enjoy a top taverna and then dive into the surprisingly bustling nightlife!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 4 (Sunday): Ultimate Chill Day (BBQ night!)<\/strong> Time to recover. Today is a &#8220;lazy&#8221; day: a short sail to a remote bay south of Symi. Anchor down, music on. Time for swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, and just doing absolutely nothing. We&#8217;ll stay here overnight, and that means only one thing: an epic BBQ on board!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 5 (Monday): Relaxed sail to Rhodes<\/strong> After a morning dip, we set course south to Rhodes. This is a relaxed 20 NM sailing day. The perfect moment to lean back with a book, or to learn the <em>ins and outs<\/em> of sailing from our skipper and take the helm yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 6 (Tuesday): City Trip in UNESCO city Rhodes<\/strong> We&#8217;re staying in Rhodes for a full day and night, and it&#8217;s necessary. This is a <em>must-see<\/em>. The old town is a UNESCO site and a gigantic medieval maze. Explore the narrow streets, climb the city walls, and feel like a knight. In the evening, we&#8217;ll dine in the old town and soak up the lively atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 7 (Wednesday): Off-the-Grid on Alimia<\/strong> After the city rush, it&#8217;s time for pure nature. We sail 30 NM westward to Alimia, a true hidden gem. This island is small, uninhabited, rugged, and surrounded by crystal-clear water. Perfect for diving or snorkeling. We&#8217;ll anchor here for the night and dine under the stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 8 (Thursday): Authentic Chalki<\/strong> Lazy morning! After breakfast and a morning swim, we take a super short sail to Chalki. This is Greece at its purest. We moor in the small, charming harbor. No scooters, no crowds, just cobblestone streets and colorful houses. We&#8217;ll eat at a traditional Greek taverna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 9 (Friday): Challenge Day: Off to Tilos!<\/strong> Today, we&#8217;re going to <em>really<\/em> sail. We set course to the north, straight against the prevailing wind. This will be a challenging 20 NM trip, requiring us to tack. A perfect day for those who want to actively sail and trim. The reward: the quiet, untouched island of Tilos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 10 (Saturday): HIGHLIGHT: The Nisyros Volcano<\/strong> Time for the literal high point of the South Route. We moor in Pali on Nisyros. From here, you can rent a scooter or car to conquer the island. The <em>must-do<\/em> is the gigantic volcano. You can literally walk into the active crater! Also, visit the beautiful village of Nikia, balancing on the crater rim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 11 (Sunday): Back to Turkey (Turtle Bay)<\/strong> We check out of Greece and set course back to the Turkish coast. Our stop: Mersincik Koyu, famous for its turtle beach and beautiful landscape. A wonderfully quiet bay for our last night at anchor, including dinner on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 12 (Monday): Last sailing day &amp; Kos by Night<\/strong> The circle is almost complete. We sail the last stretch back to our home port. But not before we drop anchor one last time for lunch and a final swim in a beautiful bay. Around 5:00 PM, we moor up in Kos Marina. In the evening, we go out with a bang: one last Greek dinner with the whole crew, and then (optionally) we dive into the nightlife of Kos!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 13 (Tuesday): Until next time!<\/strong> It&#8217;s a wrap. Time to check out. With (most likely) a healthy tan and a backpack full of new memories and friends.
