THE 8-DAY ADVENTURE: THE ICONIC NORTH ROUTE

Ready for the ultimate 8-day island-hopping experience? This is the North Route, a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and legendary bays.

This trip has it all: we start with a few days of active sailing against the prevailing wind. As soon as we reach the north, we turn around and surf our way back with the wind at our backs, in total comfort. Along the way, we hit the biggest highlights of the Dodecanese: from the ‘Blue Lagoon’ to the UNESCO heritage on Patmos.

Sailing experience itself is absolutely not required – the skipper and crew are happy to teach you the ropes! What is important is that you understand our ‘camping on the water’ vibe. We recommend this trip if you love a healthy dose of adventure and a week full of action and discovery.

Here’s an example of the North Route:

Day 1 (Saturday): Kick-off on Kos! Welcome aboard! From 6:00 PM, you can check into your floating home for the week. You’ll meet the rest of the crew, we’ll sort out the cabins, and kick off the trip with drinks. No nautical miles today; we’re diving into Kos town with the group for our first Greek dinner and exploring the city.

Day 2 (Sunday): The Fjord of Vathi (Kalymnos) Cast off! We set course for Kalymnos. We moor up in Vathi, a spectacular, fjord-like bay. In the evening, it’s time for a classic: dinner at Poppie’s. With Steve’s legendary stories and Zavestie’s delicious salads, the night is guaranteed to be a success.

Day 3 (Monday): Challenge Day & BBQ on Leros Today is challenge time! We’re sailing about 20 NM against the wind to the green island of Leros. A perfect day to actively sail and trim. We’ll seek shelter in the bay of Agia Marina, drop the anchor, and in the evening… time for an epic BBQ on board under the stars.

Day 4 (Tuesday): The ‘Blue Lagoon’ & Bustling Lipsi We sail further north to Lipsi. But not before we stop at the Blue Lagoon. The name says it all: impossibly clear, turquoise water. Swimming is mandatory! In the evening, we moor in the lively harbor of Lipsi, a hub for sailors. Time to stretch our legs, explore the old town, and score the must-eat chocolate croissant!

Day 5 (Wednesday): HIGHLIGHT: Holy Patmos Today we cross over to Patmos. We moor in Scala and head straight up to Chora, the old town. This is a must-see. Atop the hill, you’ll find an impressive medieval fortress and the famous monastery (UNESCO heritage) where John wrote the Book of Revelation. Even if you’re not religious, the magical atmosphere and the view here are unforgettable.

Day 6 (Thursday): The Reward: Pirate Bay! Time for the reward! We turn the bow south and surf 25 NM with the wind at our backs. We’re sailing back to Kalymnos for a legendary “Caribbean” night in Pirate Bay (Emporios). Stavros and his brother will pick us up with their pirate boat, and we’ll dine at their amazing restaurant.

Day 7 (Friday): Final Leg & Kos by Night We get up early for the last long sailing day back to Kos. If time permits, we’ll drop anchor one last time at Pserimos for a final swim. Around 5:00 PM, we moor up in Kos Marina. In the evening, we go out with a bang: one last Greek dinner with the whole crew, and then into the bustling nightlife of Kos (the infamous bar street is calling!).

Day 8 (Saturday): Until next time! It’s a wrap. Time to check out. With (most likely) a healthy tan and a backpack full of new memories and friends. (Staying for another week? Then this is your chill day to explore Kos!)

The Crew: Minimum 5, maximum 8 adventurers.

Please note: This is real sailing! The route is a plan, but the wind and weather have the final say. Our skipper will always choose the best and safest route based on the conditions. Flexibility is key – that’s what makes it an adventure!
